Coaching

I work with all sorts of folks in the tech industry, especially those carving their own paths: senior engineers, staff+ engineers, and architects. I am also approached by managers and senior leaders looking for a thinking partner to help them work through organisational leadership challenges: increasing their influence (instead of relying on authority), improving relationships with their first team or for a space to reflect more deeply, take a moment for themselves and explore new perspectives.
I'm open to working with people outside these roles or in different industries. If you feel we’d make a great team or my approach resonates with you, let’s chat.
The type of coaching I do is called transformational coaching because it focuses on your being, who you are now and who you desire to become. It's different to focusing on acquiring a set of behaviours or learning frameworks.
I have experienced some of these challenges in myself and I realised this aligns very well with the technical leadership journey: you have the technical experience, we focus together on updating your "internal operating system" to help you become the leader you desire to be. Challenges like influencing, amplifying your impact, communication, etc are more related to our being and our relationship with ourselves.
What topics lead people to consider coaching?
- Finding clarity in a new role, or after an internal change (like a reorg or manager change).
- They have been trying to get buy-in to an important initiative, but struggling to gain traction. They crave a space for reflection and exploration.
- Feel stuck or lost in a role, a company or their careers.
- Have a very challenging relationship (with their manager or someone on their first team as senior leaders) and want a space to process and gain better understanding about the dynamics and how they can move forward.
- Have lost the enjoyment of work, every project and interaction feels the same. They want to ignite that spark again.
- They are several decades into their career and eyeing the exit, but would like to contribute more meaningfully.
- They are looking for a new role (as a result of layoffs, being driven out or other circumstances), interviews are frustrating or they don't know exactly what role they'd like to go for next.
- They have received feedback and it's not making sense even after discussing with their manager. They don't feel seen.
What do they get out of working together?
I don't promise you a plan. I promise you a different relationship to the questions you're carrying.
Most clients come to me with a specific career question: a promotion to consider, a role to leave, a relationship to repair, a feedback conversation that didn't sit right. We rarely solve it directly. We work on what's underneath: the assumptions you've been operating by, the question you didn't realise you were really asking, the lens you needed to see your situation differently.
Things my clients tell me they notice:
- The career decision they came in with is settled.
- They've noticed unspoken rules they'd been running on for years, and chosen which ones to keep.
- They have a sharper read on what they bring, and on what kind of work is actually theirs.
- Things that used to take ages, like a hard conversation, a written proposal, a no, feel lighter.
- The shifts show up at home, too ✨

You might not be ready for coaching with me if...
- You are not willing to step into the uncomfortable
- You are looking for a quick solution or to come out with a detailed plan
- You don't want to be challenged
- You are not serious about doing the work
I won't sugar coat it. The hardest part isn't doing more. It's learning to be still. In a world that keeps accelerating, most of us have lost that ability, and slowing down enough to truly observe is uncomfortable. That stillness is where the insights surface, and where the deepest work happens. Hard... yet exhilarating when you start to notice the shifts.
