About Blanca

I am a principal engineer, an executive coach (ICF PCC credentialed coach), an educator, and a founder. I help engineering teams and organisations improve how they collaborate, work, and learn.

What I'm working on right now

• Running workshops and coaching engagements for engineering teams, staff+ engineers and technical leaders through my own practice.
• Serving as a coach mentor and educator at Coach Masters Academy, mentoring the next generation of transformational coaches.
• Leading the Career Corner initiative at Tech Risers Women, supporting women in tech through career-focused programming, group and individual coaching.

My approach blends two things I care deeply about: putting learning into practice (because we don't really know something until we've done it), and 1:1 transformational coaching that helps technical leaders develop their own flavour of leadership.

How I got here

Before building my own business, I spent 20 years in tech - the last 9 building data analytics platforms, first at the BBC and then at the fintech startup topi. The parts of those roles I loved most weren't the systems; they were setting up teams to tackle hard problems, mentoring, speaking and running workshops.

Our industry tends to chase new and shiny tools, which keeps our attention on the tech rather than on how we work together. Our work is creative: it's about generating ideas, questioning assumptions and collaborating well. I want to make the tech industry more human and inclusive because I believe doing so transforms not only who we are, but also the products we build and the cultures we cultivate.
